There are three factors in every basic survival situation. Your ability to secure 1.)FOOD 2.)WATER 3.)SHELTER will determine the length and quality of your life. Most people can survive without ill effect 3 days without water and 30 days without food. Your immediate need for shelter will depend on weather conditions and is often the most pressing need. Hypothermia can kill in a matter of hours if conditions are severe. Remain calm and search out a natural shelter if you find yourself out of your element.. Protecting yourself from wind, rain or sun exposure will give you the time you need to consider your options for collecting and purifying water. It may seem overwhelming but food will also need to be discovered or collected within days of discovering yourself in a survival situation. Although water is the most immediate nourishment needed; food will become increasingly more difficult to secure the longer your body goes without. You will become increasingly weaker and therefore less able to provide for your yourself.
